Good safeties for Top Schools (Ivy League schools & Top 20-30)?

Eh, I'd say your scale is too nice. Here's what I view as Safety/Match/Reach based soley off SAT scores, so thus obviously it's not a holistic view, but in view of the general trends, so thus the following is a huge generalization; [Examples are for Ivy level applicants]

Safety: Your SAT score is 100-200 points above their average. Preferably 50 points above their 75th percentile in all sets, which would make it a lot more. Thus about 90th percentile for stats, preferably more. [Ex. Northeastern, University of Delaware]

Match: Your stats are at their 75th Percentile, or between 75 and 50th. [Ex. GWU, NYU, Boston College]

Reach: Below 50th Percentile. [Ivies]

Infinite_Truth: Obviously all Ivies are reaches, but wouldn’t you definetly want to be above the 50th percentile or even the 75th percentile if you apply?

UMich - Ann Arbor is my safety of choice.

If you are in the top 10% with above a 3.8, above a 2100, and hard classes, you should get in to Michigan, making it the ultimate safety for high stats applicants(who can afford OOS tuition at Michigan).

Well, half of the students there are below the 50th percentile.

I don’t think anyone can call HYPMS middle reaches.
