What are your Safety Schools?

Hi,

I'm currently searching for some good safety schools to check out. I'm wondering what safeties Pton applicants are applying to (i.e. schools that are similar to Pton but less prestegious, preferrably with some good merit aid). I have a couple in mind (UMich-Ann Arbor for rolling admissions;BU with their "trustee scholar" thing) but I'm interested to see where you people are applying for safeties.

BTW if this helps I'm a junior and have a 2300 SAT (800 CR, 790 M, 710 W).

Thanks!

northwestern and WashU are good ones

Harvard is a popular safety for Princeton applicants.

Haha! cookiemom :D

I also applied to UMich as a safety of sorts. But I dunno... Northwestern and WashU don't fall into the "safe" category. By anybody's standards.

LOL I am applying to Harvard RA (although that's mainly because that was what I was originally going to apply for, so the application is mostly done). Also looking into William and Mary - I am finding very few colleges that present curriculum in the same manner as Princeton...Found one tiny one in Cedar City, UT - but it isn't accredited...too small :)

Cool...I was also considering Northwestern. I'll look @ WashU. I'm not a big Harvard fan (actually my dad isn't)...so needless to say I'm not applying.

Any other safety schools (actually they don't have to be just safeties...matches will work too).

Rice, Emory, Georgetown, for Californians the UCs. Depends on why you like Princeton - a department, the location, what else besides the selectivity?

I like Pton for the location, the environment, and the undergrad focus, as well as the excellence across departments. Additionally, I like that it has an engineering program that isn't cut-throat but is still excellent (esp the fact that it is inherently a liberal-arts degree, despite being "professional").

I know I'm not going to find another school exactly like Pton, but I'm looking to find something that is similar in a few of these areas. Even if something is radically different (i.e. the school is in a city or is in a rural area) I would keep my mind open. I know I'm not the only person that is finding a difficulty in selecting safety schools, so I thought asking the question to current seniors would be helpful to us juniors :)

My safeties ar UCSD and UCSB

"Harvard is a popular safety for Princeton applicants." --Lmao! But Harvard does suck. XD

Anyway, my little safeties are Amherst and Georgetown.

I love Princeton for her spirit. =)

UCSD and UC Davis, for Californians.

i am using colgate and hamilton

UVA is excellent

While many of the schools mentioned could be considered “good match” schools for students who have a serious chance of admission to Princeton, few can be considered “safeties” by even the best students. Your best safety school is usually the flagship campus of the your home state’s public university.

i hardly think georgetown is a safety for anyone

or amherst for that matter. these threads are always exercises in vanity.

or WashU for that matter as well. WashU hates being used as a safety, and they probably will figure it out if you're using them as one...

I guess my safeties are uMich, Duke and Northwestern as my other 5 are the top 5 in the nation... nevertheless, I'd love to go any of the 8 universities that I've applied to..

vtech and uva

Considering that P'tonians hate Quakers I am surprised to NOT see Penn listed as a safety school here.
