Just wondering what safety schools everyone is considering. I am applying to USC and UCLA, as I really, really would like to be close to LA (which is fairly close to my family as well). However, that’s not a deal breaker for me so I am also looking into Rutgers, NYU and potentially Carnegie Mellon or UCSD. Anyways, all of these schools are quite competitive. Acting isn’t something I have been doing my whole life, and while I am very serious about it being something I want to do for the rest of my life, I understand that I may be quite behind other people auditioning. While I would love to be accepted into the schools I mentioned about, I know it might not happen. What are some other schools that I should consider applying to, just to be safe? I still want schools that have good programs and connections, even if they aren’t the most prestigious or highly rated.
I am willing to consider doing a BA as long as there is a heavy emphasis on acting. I have a 4.0 gpa and extensive volunteer work in and out of the country. Any suggestions?
If you have strong grades etc (which you seem to) BAs at LACs can be great options. My D had Muhlenberg (outside Philadelphia) and Kenyon (Central OH) as two of hers. But there are TONS to choose from.

My D’s safeties are University of Alabama (both Tuscaloosa and Birmingham campuses). For straight acting they are non-audition programs. She will probably add Hofstra to the list which is on Long Island.
