I'm currently a Junior in high school in New Orleans. I have a 3.89 GPA and scored a 27 on the ACT as a sophomore. I am taking it again next month, and hoping to get a 30-32. I am trying to narrow down my list of colleges to tour before making my ultimate decision next year. I want to major in international relations and minor in economics, or maybe double major with a minor in a foreign language. I prefer to not go to any of the universities in Louisiana and to stay in the south or Midwest. However, with the TOPS program here in Louisiana, I can go to LSU for nearly free, so I am looking for schools where I can earn good merit scholarships to warrant rejecting TOPS. I am considering George Mason, Alabama, and Spring Hill. Any other suggestions?

-The Croft Institute for International Studies at the University of Mississippi offers some of the best IR in the South.
-If you can get your ACT to either 31 or 32 and afford it you have a chance of getting into Emory which offers excellent IR and languages.
-Ohio State also has great IR and offers over 30 languages ranging from Arabic to Zulu
-Rhodes College in Memphis, TN supposedly has a good international relations program
-Macalaster College in St. Paul, MN offers fantastic IR and truly emphasizes studying abroad
-I’ve read that IU-Bloomington, Michigan State, Beloit College, Lawrence University, Kalamazoo College, and Kenyon College all have pretty good programs
