I've been looking into colleges for a music education major. I'd like to stay in the midwest area, but I don't know what universities have a good music education program. All schools are going to brag on their website, but what schools really are good choices for a music ed major?

There are a lot of good music ed programs in the Midwest. What instrument do you play (or voice)? Do you have a preference for a state? I know that Michigan State University is thought highly of. I got my master in music ed from Western Michigan University and really enjoyed it there. I have heard good things about the music ed program at Ohio State University, but I’m sure there are many more schools that are good.

Oberlin has an overall amazing music programme, as far as I’ve heard, and they also do Music Edu. You can combine a bachelor’s degree with their MMT, Master of Music in Teaching. You also get practice in the town as a teacher If you’re looking for a smaller college or conservatory (depends on what floats your boat), then I’d definitely look into their options!
