Hi. I was accepted ED to Emory and now I have a month left until the graduation. I have always been an A~A- student and have gotten decent grades until the third quarter. However, I now have an F (57/100) for AP environment because I was absent during the week which one of the projects was due. The teacher says that there will be no more grades going into this quarter and I am not allowed to turn in the work late since they are already graded and handed out. I heard that most Emory acceptees got away with multiple Ds and Cs, but has anyone gotten below D- and still did not get their acceptance revoked?
Just to be clear, I have F as my fourth quarter grade for AP enviro only. Will this average out with my third quarter grade and the final exam as a whole? or will Emory go over each quarter to seek out for low grades?
They will get your final transcript, so it depends what appears on that. If your transcript only shows semester grade, and not the components contributing to that grade, Emory would not see the quarter grade.
Talk to your guidance counselor and see how the final transcript is presented to colleges (final grade only or marking period grades). Also if you had an excused absence and handed in the assignment immediately upon your return to school, I would try to talk to the teacher, or have a parent call on your behalf.
If you had an A for the third quarter your average would be a C (unless you ace your semester final… which would probably bump your grade to a B- or so)
