Got In!!

I got in to USD yesterday!!!! its my 2nd choice school. still waiting to hear from Pepperdine!!

3.7 GPA 1230 SAT, really good ECs, 3 recs

Congratulations badabing, my D recieved her letter from Pepperdine today so the suspense will be over soon!

congrats to your D, was Pepperdine her first choice?

i got in too! however, i don't know if i'm gonna go because i've heard it's quite small...TOO small. what do you guys think?

i just came back yesterday from visiting. first off, its the most amazing campus ive ever seen....and i never thought id say this, but better than Pepperdine University campus in malibu. The campus in my opinion is the perfect size. All the buildings are white, spanish renaissance style, with beautiful views. The dorms are really nice...the ones i saw had private bathrooms and closets. The school is also SUPER catholic. lol everywhere you go, there will either be a crucifix or statue of the virgin mary somewhere. however, the school doesnt try to press religion on its students. there are religious requirements, but you can choose from a variety of different religion classes. As far as the people go....if you are uncomfortable in an extremely wealthy environment, i think you might find going to usd a pain. everyone drives beamers, all the girls get made up for class at 8 am, and the boys are very preppy. i believe it is 60% girls and 40% guys. its a very residential campus. I truly felt like i was on a resort. I loved it. go visit!

We are going to visit the end of the month. Thanks for the update. My D is not too thrilled with the 60/40 actually I think it is 38/62. Did you get a feeling if it is academically challenging.

i unfortunately was unable to speak to any professors, but I do know that they are top tier educators. From speaking to some students and from the information session, i got the feeling that teachers are very open as far as getting to know their students and are easily accessible outside of the classroom. I really couldnt tell ya how challenging the curriculum is. It seems tough but manageable. My parents and I are going down again on the 14th and will hopefully get all our questions answered before i officially enroll.
