Got my first D. What should I do now?

Hi parents, I'm a student looking for parents' perspectives here.

I got my first D+ ever last semester (A's and B's everything else). I'm just so lost right now. What should do for my remaining semesters, and job wise? I'm scheduled to graduate this December. I feel like I won't be able to find ANY job since I probably will not have a 3.0 at the end.

Any advice on my situation?

Forgot to mention that I did badly my first semester, hence the less than 3.0

If you have A’s and B’s in everything else, why wouldn’t you have a 3.0 at graduation? One class doesn’t rule all. Just move forward. Do your best. Don’t overthink things.

OK, cross posted with your update. You still need to focus on the next semester and do your best. You will be fine.

What she said. There isnt much else you can do. Will you get credit for that class, or can you retake it and will it remove the original grade from your GPA?

If you got a D+ on one of core classes, depending on your department policy, you may have to repeat it.

You should have an explanation - not an excuse - prepared so that you can dispassionately discuss the matter if it comes up in a job interview. Believe it or not, people do go on to live fulfilling lives even if their GPA falls below 3.0. :)

Talk with your advisor and the registrar ASAP to see if you can retake the class, and replace the grade. You’ve got a few semesters left to do that.

This is not that uncommon.

Since you are lost, talk to a counselor at your school.
For your remaining semesters, continue to do your best.
Job wise, not only will you find a job, but many employers don’t ask for your GPA.
