got ur admit packages yet?

That's what I initially tried to do...But that was only applicable for students going to active duty in the military, those with health complications, or family health complications, those studying abroad....They needed documentation of for the leave of absence and they said my situtation didn't satisfy any of the conditions.

Thats terrible. I guess some schools have different policies. Its interesting that your school works that way since I would think every college is money hungry enough to take whatever they can get. I hope everything turns out well with your finaid package. I myself still havent recieved mine yet and I'm getting a little upset.

According to the orientation website our tuition must be paid byJanuary 7 or we get hit with a "finance charge." That's quite an expectation considering I haven't received a bill yet.

I hope that isnt the case because a) I have not recieved my financial package and nobody is getting a cent of my money unless I see it and am satisfied, and b) the turnaround times have been rediculous. I know this is spring but come on, give us a break.

According to page 19 of the orienation guidebook I accessed online (still haven't received a paper copy in the mail...)

IMPORTANT! DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION
Registration must be completed by Feb 9, 2007, to avoid assessment of a $350 late fee. To complete registration students must:
"Settle all financial accounts. Any bill not paid by January 9, 2007 will automatically be assessed a finance charge by the University Bursar's Office."

They're getting a call first thing Monday morning.

hey journey495,

did you call them to find out about what we should do about billing?
also how did you get the orientation guidebook online?
do you think i should call them and give my name too??

Dont' worry guys, Wednesday morning is your registration. If you have any problems with anything, there will be a rep from the respective office there to help you. That's when you are going to get your ID cards and all that good stuff too.

Rosiedaisy, today I received my acceptance packet in the mail and my financial aid award notification via email. Have you received your documents yet?

nope :-/
tomorrow is my last bet.....
i just wish they don't kick me out when i get there on tuesday

Don't worry about it too much. Everything will probably be taken care of during orientation.

Just to let everyone know, as a transfer this past fall semester I found the administration at Cornell to be frustrating to say the least. The problem at Cornell seems to be that each college has its own offices (fin aid, admissions, registrar, etc.) but they are all overseen by an umbrella "Cornell University" office of each type. I think the problems you have been having may be a simple case of one hand not talking to the other. That said, are any of you living in the Transfer Center? Where are you transferring from. Orientation week will be a blast!

totally agree to what you've said. every time i would call to the financial aid office or wherever, they would be like "hold on for sec, we'll direct your call to blah blah office"....then here i am explaining my situation again and again and again. I know that first thing i am going to do when I go up there next week is to write in the school newspaper about the administration. They DO suck.
since I am a freshman transfer, I am living in one of the North Campus dorms. I am excited about Cornell after all this crap though. How's been your transfer exprience at Cornell, Badfish2420?

For the new spring freshman transfers, what dorms were you guys assigned to?

i was placed in temporary housing on north campus (although I am a soph)...apparently there are no vacancies...

rosiedaisy: my transfer experience was awesome. The orientation was phenomenal and I really love it at Cornell. I live in the transfer center and while it is probably the least desirable dorm as far as the building, the sociality of the people there more than makes up for it. The campus is stunning. Have you visited? What is your major?

thehawk: I wanted to move off campus with a buddy who's parents bought and remodeled a house to get in-state tuition for him. Housing was adamant about the fact that I could not cancel my contract this spring because there were already many more people moving off campus than there were incoming transfers. That said, if you're not satisfied with the temporary housing on North what you should do is call housing (maybe get your parents to call...money talks and the university assumes they're paying) and throw a fit. I have several friends who's parents have thrown fits and gotten their way.

Townhouses on north for me....
