If I know my percentage grade, weighted and unweighted, how do I convert this to a 4.0 GPA scale? How would the weighting work on the 4.0 scale if my school adds 10 points to the percentage grade for students in honors/Pre-AP/AP clases who make 80's and higher?

My school operates on a scale of:

90-100 A
80-89 B
75-79 C
70-74 D
0-69 F

Thanks in advance! I see tons of posts with people comparing their GPAs on a 4.0 scale and want to know how I stack up.

An A is 4 points, B is 3 points, C is 2 points, D is 1 points and F is 0 points. Take all of the 4's, 3's, 2's, 1's and 0's and add them together. Then divide by the total number of courses.

For example, A B C B B A A B would be (4+3+2+3+3+4+4+3) / 8.

The 10 bonus points for honors/AP basically is adding a grade. If the course is honors/AP, then A=5 and B=4. There is not standard way to calculate weighted gpa's however. Some schools don't give you a whole grade, and at some schools a C=3 while at others you don't get any bonus for a C. Obviously a weighted gpa can exceed 4.0.

It your school uses pluses and minuses, the following table may help, but it also is not standard at all schools:
94 - 100% = 4.0 = A
90 - 93% = 3.7 = A-
86 - 89% = 3.3 = B+
83 - 85% = 3.0 = B
80 - 82% = 2.7 = B-
76 - 79% = 2.3 = C+
73 - 75% = 2.0 = C
70 - 72% = 1.7 = C-
66 - 69% = 1.3 = D+
63 - 65% = 1.0 = D
