If I am applying to a program, and my gpa barely makes the cutoff, should i still apply? Or forget it since I'm technically a bottom feeder.

“All interested students are encouraged to apply.”

Probably a good suggestion.

Apply. What have you got to lose?? You never know unless you apply. If you have a good reason for your GPA barely making the cutoff make sure you include that somewhere in your application.

Money and time. The cost of applying to graduate school is not cheap. With application fees, transcript mailing fees and GRE score report fees, the cost of applying to a single school easily tops $100-150 these days.

GPA is not the only criteria being used for admission. For the programs you are considering, do they value research experience you might have? Do you have strong LORs?
Did you take a rigorous course of study? These are all issues you should consider when weighing the cost and likelihood of admission when applying to a particular program

Thanks for the replies.

Although I wasn’t asking for grad admissions, your responses have been helpful.

I was just being insecure. :/
