GPA dilemma!

Hey guys I’m am really lost right now. I don’t know what will give me a better shot to get into college? My unweighted GPA which is a 2.9 or my weighted GPA which is a 3.3. I’m going to be a senior male in Illinois starting to look at and worry about college! Help me!

Put a lot of effort into studying for your SAT/ACT and work hard to bring up your grades your junior/senior year.

You don’t get to pick which GPA to use. Colleges will look at your transcript and use it the way that they want to. Most schools only look at unweighted and then take rigor into account.

@me29034 I think that my rigor can make up for some of my gpa. By the end of senior year I will have taken 5 AP classes and 11 Honors classes.

Work as hard as you can to get top grades in the first half of senior year. I would not apply ED anywhere with your current GPA. And no, you do not choose which GPA. Colleges will look at your GPA in context of your course rigor and in context with your school profile. You dont mention test scores, or the colleges you are aiming for. Retake your tests if necessary. Aim for colleges in which your GPA and test scores are at the higher end of the middle 50% and above.
