GPA for Medical School

I will have Bio-Engineering degree
What is the lowest GPA so I can think about applying to Medical School?

Restate what you’re trying to ask.

Sorry I am parent, English is not good.
I heard that if GPA is lower than 3.6, 3.7 then just forget to think applying to medical school. My child just finished Freshman with GPA 3…56 Bio-Engineering at UMDCP, someone said 3.6-3.7 at UMDCP Engineering is unreasonable
The course will be harder , GPA might be worse. I want to know what is the lowest GPA so there still have chance to apply to medical school.

Here are several tables of MD applicants and admitted students by race/ethnicity and their GPA/MCAT scores:

https://www.aamc.org/data/facts/applicantmatriculant/157998/mcat-gpa-grid-by-selected-race-ethnicity.html

This may give a better idea of what GPA your child needs to be a competitive applicant for medical school.

Please understand that 60% of all applicants to med school every year get rejected at every place they apply. Admission to med school is very competitive and requires more than just a good GPA and a good MCAT score.
Extracurricular activities and letters of recommendation are equally vital for success.

Thank you so much for your info

The way to think about it is GPA/MCAT will only stop you from getting rejected. They do not actually get you accepted. So if your GPA/MCAT are bad, you can’t get in, but just because they are good doesn’t mean you will.
