GPA Outdated by a Semester for Internship Background Check

So I’ve been trying to get an internship with the company my brother works at for a long time now, specifically, last semester my brother and I were in contact with the boss of his sister department who was really enthusiastic about having me. He’s had my resume since then which was populated with my then current GPA, and this was the same resume he used when we interviewed together and I got the job offer this current semester.

So I was unsure of what to do, and decided it made sense to fill out my application that’s used for background purposes with my GPA from that resume, which would now be technically a semester outdated.

That all made sense to me when it all felt really casual and I had the job on lock, especially considering most of the process took place over last semester, but now I’m really worried that it may cause me to fail my background check or something like that.

I’m an engineering student, and my last semester was infamous for being the toughest for my degree at my school. That coupled with a lot of other stuff led to it being my worst semester at college by a large margin, and my GPA took almost a 0.2 hit.

I honestly wasn’t trying to lie about my GPA or anything like, I just felt like it would be weird to swap the number the guy’s been looking at since last semester as soon as they gave me an offer.

Does anyone here have any thoughts or insight on this type of thing?

TL;DR: Put a semester outdated GPA in my background check form online after being offered an internship, worried if it will spell trouble.

I should also mention that they’re a very big, prestigious company, and I feel like this would be no big deal to explain, but my only contact for this portion is with a corporate recruiter who is not particularly friendly.

Don’t worry. You can always change the info when you get more into the process.

You got the job. You’ll be fine. The background check is more related to past criminal history. On a completely unrelated, random side note, you’ll likely be asked to take a drug test. If you use any marijuana products, know that you will test positive for up to 5 weeks. Quit now if you do.

Congratulation on the job!! Its just to ensure the candidate they are hiring don’t have the criminal record.
