Hey, I was wondering how gpa is exactly calculated. I know A is 4, B is 3, and so on. However, I've seen some poeple say that like a 90 is 3.7 or sumthin. Is this true? Does this mean there are different gpas for each letter grade depending on how high or low it is?

Every high school in the country calculates a GPA in its own way. Yes, some will use scales that are similar or even identical to each other, but there is no set standard that schools use. This makes it impossible to compare GPAs across schools. Your counselor will submit a school profile along with your transcript that will explain your school’s GPA scale to the admission officers reading your application. When it comes to GPA, context is everything.

My school uses 100 point scale to rank people, which is ridiculously unfair and misleading. my gpa is 3.96 unweighted and im ranked 12 while #1 's gpa is somewhere like 3.90 (he has gotten higher A’s than me, like 99s instead of 92s)

My friend has a 85 gpa but a 2.3 on a 4 point scale. It can be extremely misleading
