Grad School & Joint JD?

Does anyone know if it would be possible to attend grad school for a year and then join the Joint JD program?

I'm asking because I've got enough time to study for the GRE before I graduate but not enough to tackle the GRE AND the LSAT. I'm wondering if it would be possible to get into a grad school (say Georgetown for example) and attend while studying for the LSAT and then get acceptance to GTL and THEN join the Joint JD program. I realize this would probably push me back a bit time-wise but I'm not really concerned about that-- more interested to know if it's possible since most websites don't mention that you can/can't do it... just that you must gain admission to both institutions.

Thanks for the thoughts!

It depends on the school and the program. You do generally need separate admission to both programs, but they do not always need to be done simultaneously. My S is in a joint JD/MUP program, having applied at the same time, but a colleague of his in the MUP program applied to the Law School during his first year of grad school, was accepted and will complete the joint program over the next 3 years.

It can be done with some schools and programs, but the trouble is that you may decide on Georgetown for your other graduate degree but then get into much better schools for law school, or worse, not get into GULC at all. Many masters degrees can be completed in one year, so you may already be finished anyway by the time law school starts.

Your first year of law school is best devoted to law studies without distraction, as it is generally very competitive and first-year grades often determine your career options.

Also, ask yourself whether the joint degree will have value in your career.
