grad school (right for you?) quiz

This quiz might interest you guys - i thought it was pretty good and funny. I don't think it's meant as a serious evaluation or anything. Basically you answer different questions about your study habits and the type of person you are and it tells you whether graduate school would be a good path for you.

I am a high achiever.

that was retarded

The students who excel at undergrad aren't necessarily the same students who will excel in independent research. This is the central error of the test - that students who are more studious are the types to succeed in grad school. When in reality - some of the best students skip classes that are a waste of time, study things independently of class, and only read the material that they feel is relevant and useful (rather than the material that is useless crap).

Inquiline, I believe you are totally right. I was going to argue against you until I realized that I read what you said backwards. When a student prone to independent research who really loves a subject gets in an environment where they live and breathe that subject, they will thrive. A student who gets A's just because, and doesn't have that passion wont last long.
