I want to ask from the senior who previously applied that Which all exam marks need to be submitted while applying to colleges in December under RD and in ED?

Many schools have First term , Mid Term , Preboard till then while some do not , which all marks are essential

I applied RD. If you’re using the common application, there are two marksheets you need to send for 12th grade. One is called the school report, and one is called the mid-year report. Basically, for school report you send your most updated report card at the time you are applying (i.e., your report card with marks up till November or December), and for the mid-year report, you send the preboard exam marks.

@Khione -Thanks for the reply
But can ypu please explain how were exams conducted in your school?
I mean which all months and what are they called

In my school we have First term exam in July then Mid term in September and then again Pre Board 1 in Nov-Dec. So which all are important?

I am really worried because I dont belong to a feeder school and my school make the paper and strict checking just to prepare us for boards. They just dont realise how much bad will it do to people applying abroad :(

@kira96: Yes, mid-year report need only be submitted by February.

@mathsoul: I didn’t go to a feeder school, either, and my school marks were actually kinda bad, partly for the same reason you’ve mentioned. But apparently you can ask your counsellors to mention that correction is strict to prepare you for boards in their letter of recommendation. I didn’t do this (it didn’t occur to me), but it sounds like a good idea, so give it a shot! It doesn’t excuse failing or anything, but perhaps then marks in the 70s (out of 100) will not be looked down on so badly.

As for my exams: first terms were in May, half yearlies in October, pre-board 1 in December and pre-board 2 in January. So a similar schedule to yours. I suppose all are important in that they contribute to your GPA. People at my school used to send their first term results as their school report and half yearlies as the mid-year report, so I guess that is a possibility if your pre-board marks are really bad. But that was when we had only one pre-board exam in January. Since normal application deadlines are in the end of December, colleges might wonder why there have been no exams since September and get suspicious… so better not do that.

One thing to remember is that colleges look at your application in context, i.e., they understand that you are from India and your education system is different. So they will not compare your GPA to a US student’s GPA. Take what comfort you want from that fact. :P
