<p>Because if that's so, then my converted GPA (I just wondered what my slovenian one would translate to in the US one) is 3.9, which is apparently a lot.</p>
<p>In the slovenian one I have a 4.5, which is pretty high, I think the highest in my school was around 4.7, nobody has a 5.0.</p>
<p>Each institution gets to decide for itself how they convert grades. There are no objective standards, but the WES guidelines are probably as accurate as it gets.</p>
<p>3.9 cumulative GPAs are not actually all that rare. At the American public high school I attended, between 50 and 80 out of 800 students achieved a 4.0 GPA in any single semester.</p>
