The prompt was whether highschools should have different classes for each gender.

In the modern age of political correctness and equality, it may seem difficult to acknowledge a significant difference between the education needs of each gender, but this is precisely what needs to be done in highschools. Many educations hold that separate classes will provide a more beneficial environment for learning for each gender, while opponents feel this will simply lead to reinforced perception of gender differences. The proponents of this idea are strongly backed by empirical evidence about the learning differences between the genders and the simple fact that highschools are designed to provide the best education possible, no matter what.
Studies have concretely shown that there are significant learning differences between the two genders. Males are generally significantly more capable of graphic and multi-dimensional reasoning (possibly stemming from males' ancient task of hunting), while women are generally more skilled verbally. These differences lead to tangibly different learning methods in the classroom, two methods that cannot be reconciled by teachers. Males would benefit and learn significantly more emphasis on hands-on tasks, doing and experiment instead of watching it. The current educational method is instead geared toward girls verbal learning style of a males' more active learning style.

Another benefit of separate classes would be the creation of a less distraction-prone learning environment. During highschool, both boys and girls are raging with hormones, which can sometimes make focusing difficult. Gender specific classrooms would avoid this problem altogether by simply separating the boys and girls.

One objection of many opponents to this idea is that gender specific classes will reinforce stereotypes about learning differences between boys and girls. While this may seem true at first glance, one must keep in mind that there are indeed significant learning differences between the genders. In the end, even if gender specific classrooms reinforced some stereotypes about genders, if it resulted in classes more beneficial to each gender's learning style, it will greatly enhance American education.
Highschools should adopt separate classes for boys and girls. While many feel this is an unnecessary step that will only reinforce gender stereotypes, it will actually greatly enhance the educational for each gender by both allowing the customization of teaching styles within the classroom, allowing males to learn with a more hands on approach and females to learn more through discussion, and help limit the significant distraction introduced into the current learning environment by puberty and raging hormones.

I wanted to try writing an ACT essay in only 20 minutes because I am generally a slow writer. I will probably write one more tomorrow. I typed this exactly from what I wrote on notebook paper.

I really have no idea what the score would be, but my assessment from typing it up is that the intro and conclusion are too long, the middle paragraph is too short, I repeat myself too often, and there are some horrid phrasing mistakes (hopefully I would have caught those if I spent some time reading over it like I will in the real test).
Thanks!
