Grades and the Ivy League

For the first semester of junior year I received 5 As and 3 Bs. I'm taking 6 AP classes and 2 regular classes, and a typical student at my school takes only 6 classes in a day. No one at my school has ever taken 6 APs at the same time, so it's considered the most challanging courseload ever. I have reallllly good extra curriculars (likely the reason my grades were a bit lower than usual) so I'm doing great on that front. The last I checked I'm number 3 in my class.

Anyway, I'm applying next year to Brown, Yale, and Columbia, and I'm wondering how much the 3 Bs will affect admissions. Before this semester I had a near perfect transcript (1 B). I'd hate to think that taking such a challanging courseload would kill my chances. I figure this question will also apply to other people.

I'm thinking it won't do too much damage. I think adcoms -might- understand :) that 6 APs might make things tough. Not to mention, if they compare you to your student body, you obviously stand out. Remember ECs and test scores are equally as important as grades.

That'll be a long shot for Yale.

I'm guessing you have weighted grades?

Anyways, they will see the rigor and you will still have a strong chance at Yale based on ur courseload/GPA. Very dedicated of you to take so many APs, geez!

Depends on your school..

haha care to elaborate ibtelling?

I you have weighted grades than this changes everything.
