From what I have heard, its much easier to achieve an A/B in a humanities class than it is to achieve the same grade in, say, an engineering class. However, I was wondering how humanities classes like english or history do grading. Is there a rubric for essays, or is it totally subjective?

I'm actually more scared about taking a college english class than a college math/science class precisely because of the subjectiveness of humanities classes. An A in one class might be a B or a C in another class; it all depends on the teacher. At least in a math/science class, the grading is black and white.

Any tips on getting As in humanities classes? I have received As/A+s in all my english/social studies classes at school, but they were pretty lenient on grades. People who did not get As usually simply didn't do the work or didn't read what we were supposed to read.
