Graduate classes as undergrad

Hello everyone,

So I was wondering if undergrads are allowed to take a graduate level class, and if I am are there any things I have to do in particular to sign up for it? I tried to find some pre-reqs but could not, so thought I would turn here.

Thanks for the help.

You need to be a senior and need a permit to bypass the class standing restriction for a graduate course, which is sometimes allowed but often not. There are a few ways I’ve seen it done: sometimes they create a special 5000 level course for you. Sometimes they let you register for a 480X special topics class as the graduate course. I’ve never seen them let an undergraduate directly take a 6000 level course.

If there’s a course that really interests you, keep in mind that it might be taught at the undergraduate level.
