So, because I took a lot of AP’s in high school, I’ll have enough credits to finish my biology degree a year early in Spring 2018. Even though this is great, I haven’t made any preparations for grad school like taking the GRE and looking into programs I like because I still don’t know what I want to so with my bio degree. I was thinking of making my minor a second major (Latin American Studies) and graduating in 2019, as planned but I don’t know if I’d use that degree in the future. I guess taking a year off is always an option, but I don’t know what I’d do with all that time. Thank you
Does your school have any sort of programs where it helps you get co ops or internships? What if you worked for a year?
Yeah, it does but only if you’re enrolled as a student. I’m doing one this year, but after I graduate, they’ll give it to a different student.
I mean, you could just go into the workforce after you graduate - working with your degree might give you some ideas about what you want to do - or what you don’t want to do.
One of my friends got a bio degree because he found it interesting but he had no idea what he wanted to do with his life. After living in Tacoma for a few years he realized he really liked working in the branch of government that goes out and tests water and fish to make sure the ecosystem is balanced/safe so he’s going to get a fish & wildlife masters.
