<p>Colorado Springs, Colo. January 14, 2011 The USAFA Endowment is pleased to announce, on behalf of the U.S. Air Force Academy, a major gift in support of one of the Academy’s top-priority projects. Dr. Paul G. Kaminski, Class of 1964, and his wife, Julie, have committed $2 million towards the construction of the new Center for Character and Leadership Development.</p>
<p>“This gift is the latest in a long history of significant contributions by the Kaminskis that have had a profound positive impact on the Academy,” said Bart Holaday, Chairman of the USAFA Endowment. “Paul and Julie Kaminski possess an unwavering commitment to our cadets, embodying the highest degree of service, integrity and excellence.”</p>
<p>The new Center will integrate the Academy’s character and leadership development programs into all aspects of the cadet experience, advancing cutting-edge research and enhancing practical applications and education.</p>
<p>“This Center serves the highest aspirations of the Academy,” said Dr. Kaminski. “Julie and I are grateful for this opportunity to support our beloved school in the critical task of developing young leaders of character for the nation.”</p>
<p>Dr. Kaminski is currently Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Technovation, Inc., Chairman of the Board of the RAND Corporation, and Chairman of the Defense Science Board. He has served as the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Technology, in addition to serving on senior government advisory boards (including the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board) and as a director, trustee and consultant to several companies. Dr. Kaminski received the National Medal of Technology in 2006, and he is also a Founding Director of the USAFA Endowment. In 2002, he was honored with the Air Force Academy’s Distinguished Graduate Award.</p>
<p>Dr. and Mrs. Kaminski have previously established the Kaminski Endowment and the Paul and Julie Kaminski Visiting Lecture Seminar Series for Engineering and Systems Engineering at the Academy. They are lifetime Sabre Society donors.</p>
