Graduate programs dealing with government/human rights/middle eastern studies?

Right now I am an undergrad majoring in government and arabic with a minor in sociology or middle eastern studies. Grad school is a ways off but I have been doing a little research.

Does anyone know anything about the NYU Trauma and Violence Transdisciplinary Studies program or the Columbia Human Rights Studies Master program?

The NYU program completely encompasses everything I am interested in but there isn't much information about it online.

Also, would having such a specific degree (especially the NYU one) hinder my chances of getting a job?

And does anyone know of any other schools that have similar types of programs?

What are you looking to do with your degree? I’d highly recommend taking some time off to figure out your interests before applying, as interests and plans do change.

As for the programs you mentioned, I think you might be better off going to law school if your interest is human rights, though a solid IR degree with a focus on human rights is a good platform, too - again, this depends on what you plan to do afterwards. Interdisciplinary programs are often viewed as cash cows for schools, so I would suggest focusing on established programs with a wider skill set.
