graduate school GPA considerations

I am currently a graduate student at NYU and am barely pulling a 3.0, which is not good to say the least. I wanted to know if that will hurt my chances to get into law school. I am worried because my undergraduate gpa will not be much higher either. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you go to a web site such as Law School Numbers, you will notice that a 3.0 undergrad GPA is going to make most of the top 100 law schools a bit of a reach. Since you Grad Degree GPA is in the same range as undergrad, I don’t think it wil help or hurt you. If you really want to go to law school, you should work very hard on getting a high LSAT. With the right score on that, you may be in the running for a place at a few schools where you fall below the 25th percentile GPA of admitted students.
