Graduate Student in Final Semester

I will be starting my final semester for my master's degree this summer. As a graduate student, am I am able to take my full annual loan amount for this last semester? If not, what is the max that I can take.

You need to ask YOUR school financial aid department this question. Some schools do NOT award financial aid for summer study at all. Some schools include the summer with the PREVIOUS academic year, and others include summer in the COMING academic year.

We don’t know YOUR school’s policy.

They do include financial for summer and the summer semester starts off the new year.

If summer semester starts off the 2014-13 aid year, you will be able to get your full $20,500 unsub loan in summer if it’s your last semester … but the caveat is that you can only get a loan in the amount of summer cost of attendance, which is probably less than the $20,500 annual eligibility. To get the loan in a single term, you will need to ask your financial aid department how they want you to request it. Some schools have a special form for the request.

While undergrad loans have to be prorated based on enrollment if the first semester of the award year is the final semester of the academic program, the same is not true for grad loans.
