I just did the math and planned out the rest of my college career and I realized that I could graduate a whole year early if I wanted to. Graduating early is appealing to me because I want to get out into the workforce, start making money, and gain actual experience. The only problem is that I’m nervous about graduating early because I will only be 20 years old at the time (I’m already quite young for my class). Would graduating at 20 years old look good to future employers or would it end up actually holding me back it seems so young?
Have you ever had an internship?
You can graduate early, or you can:
- Do a Co-op//internship
- Study abroad
- Do a 3-2 Master’s program
- Do research
- Take lab courses
and take the 4 years.
My daughter graduated in 2.5 years (HS IB Credits + some summer courses) but then finished her masters in 1.5 years…since we would pay for 4 years of college, she got a second degree within that time. We also told her not to rush but were not going to prevent her.
If you graduate early, you will be younger than others at work/grad school…my daughter wasn’t even 21 when she started grad school. Now she is a teacher at just barely 22.
What are you majoring in? Would co-op/internship be a good idea? That way when you are applying for a job you already have experience?
