Hi there I was wondering if it will possible to graduate during the summer of 2011 (after one session of summer school) and still apply to law school for fall 2011? I'll have enough credits to graduate a year early by this spring less 6 credits.

Can someone please help me with this?

Come on someone has to know this…

The deadlines for most law schools are around mid Feb.There is no way on Earth you can graduate in summer 2011 and start law school in fall 2011.
Furthermore, there is a general consensus that law schools don`t fancy people graduating early unless they take that year and do sth valuable and meaningful.

While it is really not common, there are students who graduate early and go straight to law school with no problems.

You would apply in your cycle just like a person who was graduating college in the spring.

I think it would really depend on how long it takes for your school to process things. I see graduating the first semester of summer session to be any different from graduating in June. Depending on where you attend school, if your first session of summer school is in may, you will be finished in june.

Over the summer, you school will request a copy of your final transcript as proof that you received your degree. As long as everything is processed in a timely manner on your school’s end, you should have no problem.

^^ When students regularly graduate in Spring , they have already applied and been accepted by the time they are graduating. When , however, one graduates in Summer he has already missed the deadlines. For example, if he graduates in June 2011 he will be able to apply for Fall 2012.

Actually, I believe overachiever is wrong. You can apply just the same as those who will graduate in may of 2011. The extra month will not make a difference to law schools. But again this means you will need to take the LSAT in october and get your applications in as soon as possible. You may not want to rush this process so you can do a better job on the LSAT and in the application process.

Ya, according to cornell’s website you only need to have received your degree by matriculation. So you’ll be fine, but you need to start preparing NOW. If I were you I would wait another year anyways but it can be done.

This is correct. Op will need to complete undergrad before matriculating at law school in next fall. S/he will have to send a final transcript from undergrad as proof of successful completion of the degree.

My school gives out degrees in the beginning of August when people graduate during the summer (even if you complete during the 1st summer session.) Do you guys think this will be ok?

Read above posts “before matriculation” then grab dictionary.

Chickla,

While you may not have the actual degree in hand, as long as you have your final transcript that reflects you have graduated and submit before matriculation, you should be fine.
