Grant, Grant, Grant (not Ulysses S. Grant )

I’ve heard that whichever college you are accpeted to, they give you at least a small amount of grants. Is this true? Even if I do not apply for need-based scholarship? Thanks

What colleges are you referring to?

I don’t think there’s any college out there that gives you a grant just for being accepted.

However, many colleges give you non-need based grants based on merit. If you’re looking for colleges that give you automatic merit based on your stats, post them and people can try and help

There are a few schools that seem to give everyone a grant, but in the great scheme of things, those schools probably just raised tuition by the same amount of the grant.

My D’s school used to give a grant to anyone who visited the school before attending. You’d think almost everyone would get this grant, but they have a lot of foreign students who see the school for the first time the day they arrive for freshman year.

The other thing about grants is that they are not always guaranteed for all 4 years. FA offices say things like ‘Oh it almost always stays the same for all 4 years’. In addition, there are many schools that will reduce the grant amount $ for $ or to a lesser degree, based on any outside scholarship money a student brings to the table.
Scholarships, with clearly defined terms of what you need to do to keep them (GPA, FAFSA completion, volunteering hours, honor’s programs participation) tend to be more likely to remain in place, if you do your part.

No, this is not true.

Not true.
