Grant Refund

I receive a state grant for my college expenses and this year it will not cover anything because my expenses are paid by my scholarships and pell grant. Last semester, I had the state grant and all my expenses were paid except five dollars for my remaining balance. My college took the five dollars out of my state grant and refunded me the rest of it.
This semester has a completely different story. Once again my college expenses are paid but this time my pell grant had left me with a $57.50 remainder. So I know I will get a refund from that but now I need to know about my state grant. Will my state grant be refunded to me even if they won’t take anything out of it ?

TSAA Grant Rule
“Award recipients must use the TSAA for educational-related expenses. TSAA awards shall be first applied to tuition and fees, room and board, and the excess, if any, shall be distributed to the recipient according to Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended. TSAA awards shall not exceed the recipient’s cost of attendance when combined with other financial aid received.”

Well…it clearly says your state grant can’t exceed the cost of attendance. So my read on this is that if your cost of attendance is met by the school, and other forms of aid…you aren’t entitled to more.

Is this Texas?

what about your text books, rent, food? were those covered by scholarship and pell grant? I’m not an expert, but I’m pretty sure those things count toward the cost of attendance.

@BriBankss

Do you live in the dorm? And do you have a meal plan?

Here is you other thread about the SAME issue. It would be a LOT easier to answer your question…if you answered the questions posed by others here.

Regardless…the best place to get an answer is in the financial aid office at your school.
