GRE scores for poli sci MA

Hey everyone! I just took the GRE for the first time with no study involved, and got a 630 V and a 620 Q. I'm not sure of my writing score, yet. I'm positive that I could raise my verbal by roughly 100 points if I took it again, but I can't say the same for my quantitative. My top two schools right now are Georgetown and UVA, and their averages are as follows:

UVA
Verb-596
Math-704
Writing- 4.7

Gtown
Verb- 599

Math- 647

Writing:4.9

Do you think I should retake it? Should I wait to see about my writing scores? My GPA when I finish my undergrad should be no lower than a 3.8. Thanks for any help!

I would take a course and then retake them. The math score is something I would be slightly concerned about. See if you can raise that.

For a terminal MA program (not an MA that feeds automatically into the PhD) those scores will put you above the average admitted candidate, and with a strong GPA you should be in decent shape pending the recommendation letters. If you have time to retest that wouldn’t be a bad thing, but if not I would feel OK about going into the admissions pool with those scores.
