GRE: Who's Vocab list is the best

<p>I would guess that ~550 or above will be good enough... but 200-500 might hurt you...</p>

<p>i used kaplan's 500 top word list and got a 620 (i'm an engineering major). i think i seriously saw at least 5 or 6 words from the list on the actual test, which was huge since they were pretty tough words that i never would have studied on my own.</p>

<p>So you have to study 100 words to get ~1 word from the test... and there are 12 words in one analogy question... harsh : )</p>

<p>I wouldn't necessarily call NYT or Economist 'high brow' or 'intellectual'. They are both first and foremost a source of news, albeit for a slightly above average crowd. :)</p>

<p>The New Yorker, however, might fit that description.</p>
