Maybe a year ago I read the essay of a young man applying to MIT on this site. It was a wonderful piece that talked about his connection with technology throughout his life if I remember right. Can anyone help me find it?

Took a bit of googling, but here ya go: http://blogs.mit.edu/cs/blogs/eric_schmiedl/

Thank you very much mathmom, that's a wonderful essay. Funny thing, it's not the one I saw before but serves the purpose of giving my son some food for thought.

Where else can we read wonderful essays?

There's a book called something like "Essays that Worked" that has a bunch of good ones.

Hmm. I don't remember another essay and I read the MIT area pretty carefully last year! However my mind is like a sieve these days. I got PM'd a few pretty good ones from Caltech applicants last year. Maybe they'd be willing to share? Can't remember if they were accepted or not, but I liked them.
