Greek life or not

Hello,
I will be going to Michigan in the fall of 2011.
I'm wondering if I should rush or not.
I have motives to try to maintain a 4.0 GPA and succeed in my major (EE or Aerospace Engineering); however, I still want to enjoy my college life.
I know in some colleges, you have to be in a frat to go to frat parties.
This sounds naiive but would I still be able to have the college experience without joining a frat?
I hear some frats party 4 days a week and I feel like that would hinder my academics.
Thanks.

I always think it’s something you should try out. If you don’t like it or it’s creating a problem for you, you can easily drop with no problems. And who knows, you might end up really liking it.

Agree with RoxSox

I don’t think a 4.0 in EE is possible

If you do go through the process, I suggest you do it your second semester as you would have essentially adapted by then.

Yeah, about the 4.0 in EE, I’m thinking of switching to something else like Mechanical or something.

Do it second semester like paradox suggested. You’ll already be settled and adjusted at school and it won’t be so overwhelming.

Just rush, see what happens. Also, only rush in spring if you know there is an actual rush, some schools do not have spring rush.

Greek like is ■■■■■■■■. Honestly… it’s over hyped by movies and stuff. You should either do a vast amount of internships during your years in college, or open up your own company and get started on a business. Even if your business doesn’t do well, it adds serious points on your resume. I landed a job n Google with just 3.5 gpa.

Definitely rush! You don’t have to pledge if you don’t want to, but you can see if it’s worth it for you.
