Greek LIfe?

Any info from students or parents on Frats at AU?

What kind of info are you looking for? My D is in a sorority. I think I heard that only about 20% of students are in fraternity or sorority. They don’t have on campus houses, so they don’t predominate the social life of the whole campus. Sorority rush was pretty low key in Spring semester. I dont’ know about fraternity rush.

D wouldn’t even consider joining a sorority, and none of her friends belong to one, but she did join the coed service fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega, which she very much enjoys. Her sole exposure to frats has been attendance at a couple of off-campus parties, which were the usual drunkfests. From my visits to AU, I don’t see Greek life as having a high profile there.

My son is in a fraternity if I can have him answer any questions for you…it’s fairly low key, he joined his freshman year because a lot of his friends on that year’s club soccer team belonged. It doesn’t seem at all exclusive to me…a lot of his friends who are not members seem to go to a lot of the parties, etc. The house he is in seems to have a lot of internationals in it…he has friends from all over the world that are “brothers”
