Greetings from South India!

or to be specific, my little village in South India - I can't believe there is an internet cafe here! (there is a cow munching on leaves outside the door).

If you want, you can follow my journeys at shantinik.blogspot.com

Meanwhile at the wedding (you'll have to read the blog to find out about it) I met a future Smithie from Wisconsin!

mini: I have often been heard to say, as big as the world is that's how small it is too!

Have fun. I'm off to read your blog.

Thanks. Our future Smithie is now well-ensconced here - she working at pre-college training program, teaching English to Dalits (untouchables) in the day time, and in the evening, is working in a hostel for children of leprosy sufferers.

She'll fit right in.

Lots of new blog entries.

WOW!!!! Mini, what an experience! I'll be following the blog every day. Take it all in!

whoa cool...the weather must be unbearably hot though, mini!

Coolish where we are (between two mountain ranges), but the heat in Madurai makes the asphalt boil (and it is not the "hot" season, which is April/May.

Is this weather normal for that part of India or abnormal by historical standards?

Rather normal - just the usual cycle of droughts and floods, exacerbated by huge dams up river towards Karnataka. But we had a little rain yesterday.

New blogs up! shantinik.blogspot.com
