@CValle , I went back and looked at the early admit students. There were several awarded Deans with $25K. I guess for the rest of RD, the highest scholarship is Founders $24K? Still haven’t seen anyone getting the $50K President’s.

Keep in mind that those students who receive Presidential Scholarships might simply quietly accept them. Our son received one last year. He was so thrilled and humbled, but he didn’t tell anyone. He has enjoyed an amazing first year and is 100% happy with his choice of attending. Our second son received a Founders Scholarship this year! We are so fortunate that Grinnell invests in its students. Coming from Boston area, I had never heard of Grinnell prior to last year. It is such a shame that more people don’t know this school. It is such a refreshing change from the elitist East Coast culture (and I am a Harvard grad).

@bogeyorpar S’s friend got 50K scholarship this year.

ACCEPTED

SAT: 1350
ACT: 29
GPA: 4.0UW, 4.681W
ECs: Volunteer (>200 hours), Family Responsibilities (>6 yrs), Church (>6 yrs), Clubs: Interact, PAC, Ethics Bowl, NHS
Hooks: URM (IDK…I’m Asian), low-income, first-generation

Honestly, I’m so surprised I even got in with my test scores. I don’t have the financial aid yet because I wasn’t even planning on applying to Grinnell since I got rejected by their fly-in and QuestBridge. Somehow, Grinnell got my Common App. I recently sent them the information and registered for the visit day on April 8-9. Congratulations to all who got in! Even those who didn’t get in or got waitlisted, you’ll are still exceptional in varying, unique ways that you may not see in yourself! Good luck!

@kchen0514 - I expect Grinnell moved your Questbridge application into the regular decision round after considering you in the earlier Questbridge round. That second shot is one of the good things about the program that people often overlook. Big congratulations!

@kchen0514 Congratulations and don’t knock yourself, you are going to do amazing things! They gave my D18 an early write for RD and flew her in for a campus visit earlier this month. Such a wonderful school and very generous.

admitted student! some basic stats:

SAT: 1540 (Math 790, Reading 750) Subjects: Math II 800, Chem 720
ACT: 35 (Math 35, Reading 34, English 35, Science 35)
AP: Calc. BC 5/5, Chem 5, Bio 4; Physics I/II, Lit, Lang, and Stats to be taken
~4.2 weighted GPA, top of the class
Honors track, taking all offered AP courses at my school
ECs mostly performance (theatre, speech/debate, band) and community service

parents work in the ACM, and I was admitted earlier than other RD students on the whole merit kick.

ACM? @pepeleehay

Probably stands for “Associated Colleges of the Midwest”. It’s a consortium of midwest LACs that pools resources for study abroad programs and other cool things. (Members include CC midwest favs like Grinnell, St. Olaf, Carleton, Macalester, etc)

Anyone have a report about the admitted students event?

@prodesse whoops, i meant to respond to your comment, lol.

the admitted students weekend was fantastic. it was quite chilly (it snowed. in april. what on earth?), but i was told it’s usually not as cold as it was. people were really nice. i definitely felt at home.

some things i noted:

— campus, to me, was/is shockingly walkable. i knew it would be compact, but everything you need is a five-ten minute walk away which is really convenient.
— the food was great. lots of healthy options.
— everyone there really is quirky. scratch that, super quirky. but it’s a charming kind of quirkiness. i dig it.
— this may sound like a silly thing to note, but i saw comments about how people were worried about the attractiveness of students at grinnell on past threads, and rest assured (to the people who are reading this thread in the future), there are some beautiful people at grinnell. attractiveness is obviously relative to the eye of the beholder, but yeah, plenty of pretty people attend grinnell, lmao.
— grinnell’s LGBT+ community is suuuper lively. i felt more comfortable talking to strangers i had just met about my sexuality and the resources offered for LGBT+ students than i ever had before. it’s a great place to be LGBT+ if that’s what someone is looking for.

all in all, i loved it. i was super sad to leave, but i’m counting down the days until NSO, lol.

@kalons I think your impressions are spot-on and it sounds like you’ll be a great fit. Enjoy!
