Anyone have any thoughts on group interviews? I will be having my first next month for School Psych. I am applying to masters programs this year only, (decided to put off PhD until I'm really sure that's what I want)
Most of the graduate books on interviews, applications, etc. are geared to PhD, although both can share a lot in common. Interviews though, I would think, are more intense and personal with PhD, what reasearch you have done, how you fit in with a certain professors's area, etc. For a masters degree, it's a little different. One on one, I could see talking about your goals, etc. but in a group, it's must be hard not to sound alike in some areas. (I had a poster tell me once she wanted to say "ditto" but refrained)
Any hints, funny stories, to share?

FWIW, two of the school psych PhD interviews I’ve been on so far have been alongside EdS applicants.

I don’t have any experience with this, but I would think the goals and background would be different with PhD vs EdS applicants. But if the school wants to lump them together, that’s their call. I was told by one student, sometimes PhD students are interviewed earlier because Master students “usually” have a later deadline.

^
I’d imagine they are. It’s probably worth noting that neither of these programs did actual group interviews, per se, just large group meetings “sandwhiching” individual interviews.
