Hen123- First, congratulations and good luck on your interview tomorrow. Second, how did they notify you that you had an interview?
N- Congrats on your acceptance. Still sitting here with my fingers crossed!

Hey Sean,

Well apparently they interview most candidates according to a friend who attended and graduated this year. I got an email asking me to schedule a time with them for an interview. Will definitely update you on how it goes.

Hen123,

I appreciate the info. Is it most candidates whether they are accepted or denied? Again, good luck.

Has everybody else on here who applied had an interview or has one scheduled?

Also, how many people on here are veterans? Just curious. I spent six years in the Navy and just got out in September.

Good luck today Hen, you got this!

Sean, I did not have an interview.

Congrats dslau. All the best Hen!

So i applied a while back and all of a sudden can log into the financial aid website although I cant really do much. Is there anything in particular you see on the site that lets you know your in? Or is getting into the main page good enough? Thanks in advance and congrats to all the new admits!

You should be able to change your pin and fill out the planned enrollment form.

Awesome! Looks like I am in then! I guess I will be waiting for an official letter from them now!

Hey,

I got my letter of acceptance today, and one of the things it mentions is that I would have to take the ALP exam before I’m able to meet with my adviser and register for classes.

Does anybody have any info on that? The website says the ALP is a 90 minutes essay writing exam about a random(?) subject. That’s a lot of time compared to SAT writing, so I assume the essay must be a lot longer.

How different is the ALP from the SAT/TOEFL essays?

Btw congrats bvick27!

What is up fellow GS students.

I just got off the phone with admissions and found out I have been accepted. Fed-Ex is in the mail.

See you all Fall '13

Cheers,
Jordan

I just spoke with admissions and unless you are a current student or accepted, you will not be able to log in to the financial aid page. If you’re still a prospective student, you will only be able to track your application.

And congrats to all who got accepted!

Oh yea, admissions emailed me to call them regarding some ‘questions’. Then I called back to check up on the process and they told me I was accepted. I recommend everyone who doesn’t see any changes online to call and talk to someone directly.

hey warreJor, fall 13?

Technically I was accepted for Spring '13, however I won’t be able to attend in Jan so I am deferring to Fall '13.

Are all you folks who’ve been accepted early decision applicants or regular decision? I applied the Sunday before Sandy hit (Tuesday) and haven’t heard anything yet.

Also, this financial aid page you guys are speaking of on the tracking.admissions page is it something I should be working on now or not until I’m accepted (granted/hoping I am…)?

Powerstorms - Early Decision, my application was completed in September. They are behind because of Sandy and the campus being closed. So don’t sweat it, I’d call and simply ask an admissions rep where your application is in line. You should file for financial aid through FASFA now, you can’t file out financial aid through Columbia until you are accepted.

I applied to Fall 2012 semester but was not accepted (one of my letter grades was not an “A”). I reapplied for Spring 2013. I think I should have waited a year, but I felt pretty confident after my feedback interview (I was told I was a strong applicant, but needed to get an A in my next course, which I’m doing). What do you think my chances of acceptance are? Since I haven’t heard anything back, does this mean a flat out rejection? I submitted my paperwork November 5th. I can’t log on the financial aid site, so I’m pretty sure I didn’t get in.

I am assuming more people will get the call/fedex package next week. I want to take this moment to wish the remaining prospective students good luck. We have all worked very hard to get to this moment, academically, personally, and professionally. Even if some of us don’t get accepted, this does not mean our journey ends there.

I truly want to wish all of you the very best.

Antika - I graduated HS with a 2.8 and my college GPA is a 3.0, during my interview my low GPA was brought up and I explained to the advisor why it was so low. I was accepted for the Spring 2013 semester because of my overall application and essay. I hope me not even having an “A” after high school will keep your head up and know that you can do it. Just stick to the essay sylabus and be as detailed as possible, don’t over think it, my essay took me about 25 mins to write up and I refused to let anyone proofread it.

Best of Luck!

-Jordan

Thank you WarreJor for those words of encouragement.

Apparently, I scored exceptionally well in the GS Admissions exam, had great recommendations, and a strong essay (found out via my feedback interview).

So, I’m still hanging on to some sort of hope, which your words provided!

I hope everyone here hears the same news you did :-)
