I didn't have the most stellar HS app, so I was placed into GSP at NYU. It wasn't bad, but I just tried too late with my work. I've been in GSP now for almost a year and I'm looking somewhere around a 3.8-3.9 GPA. Is it still possible to get into top notch law schools/business schools even if I'm in GSP now? (Assuming I do 3.7-3.9 junior/senior year)

Why don't you work for it and find out? Hard work is usually rewarded. And the whole GSP thing? It's not like it's a school for dummies--it won't "ruin" your future.

yeah i know, i feel like my classes are no different than my friends' CAS classes. But, GSP has unfortunately caught the wrap for being the "school for dummies" at NYU which is unfair in my mind.

is this true? is there really a stigma abotu gsp around nyu? ive heard many on this board say that this isnt the case, but being that your in gsp now youd prally know best. what are other students views of gsp at nyu?

hmm it's not to say that people look at you as an idiot because that's obviously not the case. you just get different reactions from people based on what school youre in. for example if someone says theyre in stern you get "Oh! nice.." as opposed to GSP where its more of an "Oh..." But for the most part no one cares what schools people are in. i'm more concerned with what graduate school admissions boards think instead of the kids here.

After GSP, you'll transfer into another NYU school like CAS or Stern, right? If that's the case, I can't imagine anyone questioning your credentials - I mean, we've all heard of kids who do two years of community college, transfer into a more prestigious school, and go on to kick butt in life. As long as your last two years are good, too, I think you'll be fine.

GSP is the second largest entering class in NYU and many of them have high hopes for graduate school. If GSP affected yoru admission into a top grad school, then no one would be in it.
