guest speakers

was just at harvard (kennedy school of government) for the forum led by dominique de villepin, prime minister of france. i'm an admitted francophile and have nothing against de villepin, however i was turned off by the man who introduced him (didn't catch his name). this "mystery man" slammed america for the war on iraq, and quipped about the lack of american intellectuals. he got a few laughs, and i can't say i 100% disagree.. but it wasn't very professional. de villepin's speech was interesting, but made me wonder about harvard's selection of guest speakers..

do guest speakers at harvard run the gamut politically, or do they tend to come from one side of the spectrum?

overall enjoyable experience, especially when a freshman from the college referred to him as "mr. president". definitely plan on attending future events?

You can visit the Institute of Politics link on the Kennedy School of Government website (off the Harvard home page) for a schedule of coming speakers and a list of archived forum presentations, and you can watch streaming video of all the speakers live on the site. It pretty much runs the gamut.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH?????????????? HOW ARE YOU AT HARVARD WITH Dominique de Villepin??? HOw... what... why... falls over and dies of cardiac arrest

Breathe, Inaina, breathe. forgets that she died of cardiac arrest

yeah... that might make it a little harder... nevertheless. miracles happen.... still...DOES HARVARD DO THIS OFTEN??? When I get rejected, can I still just loiter outside the Harvard yard 24/7 and sneak into lectures? I CAN"T BELIEVE THIS.....

LOL...oh, man!! No negative attitude Inaina! I'm trying not to be negative about this admissions process even though it is proving to be very difficult.

inaina! that (cardiac arrest) was my reaction when i heard that he was coming! i find him seriously foxy, and not a bad speaker! haha

i don't know how often they have free forums open to the public, but i checked out a list online and it seems pretty impressive! i know BU has some public lectures too.. but it's easier for me to get to harvard than to BU.

anyone from the area wanna join me for an event. ah so exciting!
