Coming from an independent school so teachers and counselors know students fairly well. How much weight do you think Stanford (or any top colleges) weigh in the admissions decision. I’m curious since guidance counselors at private High Schools have strong relationships with the local reps at top colleges. I suppose my very direct question is, do you think they simple call the counselors and tell them which kids fit best?
My daughter got in Stanford last year (didn’t accept), and I don’t think her teacher/counselor letter had anything to do with it. She had 400 students in class, and she was a stand-out student, but I know the guidance counselor–lazy. I’m sure it was boiler plate. I think what got her in (in addition to obviously high stats) was her cheeky, irreverent attitude on her application. Her personality came through. Good luck!
Wow, good for her, may I ask why she did not go to Stanford and where did she end up going.
