Guidance Counselor Rec??

So, I am wondering how does Stanford view your Guidance Couselor's rec? Is it important? Becuase this year, we got a NEW GC who barely knows any of his students, so it may be generic and crap.

My old GC who knew me very well retired.

What if my GC leaves me a bad reccomendation, how bad would that hurt my chances?

Bump, bump, bump

The admissions officers will see that info in the “how long have you known the student and in what context box” and take that into consideration. It shouldn’t hurt you at all. It will most likely be a neutral effect. BUT make a good first impression, and it could work very well in your favor. Who knows, maybe your counselor is an extraordinary recommendation writer.

I hope so! My teachers said they left me good rec letters, but I’m not sure about my GC. I have only known him for 4 weeks.
