Hi guys! i was just accepted to the Georgetown School of Foreign Service for an international economics major. i am currently a sophomore at GW with a 4.0 GPA. financial aid hasn’t come in yet, and that’s the main determinant, but let’s say my package at Georgetown is equal to that at GW. i really have loved my experience at GW so far, but i know the opportunities at georgetown are pretty amazing. any advice on whether to transfer or not?
Finances are important. If all else is equal and you want to try something new. Gtown sfs is world class.
But it’s a different vibe school and be prepared to devote a lot of time to clubs and activities for social inclusion. Also youre starting off all over again without an embedded friend group.
Why do you want to leave GWU and obviously your killing it there.
What are your post grad goals?
All ive heard is that sfs is like a golden ticket. Itll get you places. So im wondering what the opportunity cost is of staying at gw instead of transferring — like if the career opportunities are too great at gt to be ignored
It’s unlikely GW is gonna have a better aid situation that what you’ll see from Georgetown. Personally I’d swap GW for SFS, but it depends on how happy you are at GW. FWIW they’re a 5-10 min drive down M St from one another. It’s not like you won’t be able to hang with your old GW friends on the weekends if you’re so inclined.
