I'm currently a junior at Michigan. My brother is a senior in high school, and a few days ago he made his final decision to attend Wisconsin next year (over UM, mind you). My dad is now completely distraught and doesn't know what he will do in the fall when our football teams face one another. We decided it would be best for him to remain neutral and not favor one Big Ten child over the other.

My dad's birthday is during the summer, and it would be amazing if I could get him a shirt or jersey that is half Michigan, half Wisconsin. I haven't been able to find one online, and while I do acknowledge that if such a thing exists it is completely blasphemous, it happens to suit this situation well. I'm sure that many people before us have had the misfortune of having an intra(inter?)-family college sports rivalry, so I feel like there may be some place that sells half and half team apparel. Anyone know? I would prefer not to have to resort to sewing and being crafty.

Pretty sure that would be something hard to find, most likely you will have to sew two shirts/jerseys. I’m not sure if they sell this at UMich’s bookstore but at Purdue they sell “House Divided” license plates with one half being Purdue and the other half being another Big Ten school.

Even though I’m a Buckeye, I’ll help you out. It’s the least I could do for any human being who’s autumn is at the mercy of Rich Rod, even if you are from Michigan.

There is no online site that I am aware of that makes half-half jerseys. You would have to sew one up yourself or go to a tailor or chinatown and give them instructions to sew them together. Might cost you, but that is doable and at least a tailor would make it professional and save you the time of sewing it (although sewing nylon is easy and quick anyway…).

So yes, buy two jerseys, get someone else to do it professionally if you don’t want to do anything crafty.

Thanks guys! Even you, Manhattan. I appreciate your sympathy.

Those license plates are a cool idea. I actually found a website that custom makes them for any two schools. With a little more research I discovered that there are plenty of items sold for “houses divided,” just not tshirts. I have time to decide what I want to do so I’ll look into the different options. Thanks for your help! If anyone else finds a place that actually sells those tshirts, let me know.

There is a ton of merchandise available in the “disputed territory” between Ohio and Michigan for the house divided stuff, even jerseys. I’ve seen them at some online OSU stores. Unfortunately, I couldn’t imagine that something similar exists for Wisconsin and Michigan.

I’ve found online they make flags, floormats, mailboxes, etc just not clothing. The buying two jerseys and stitching them together looks to be your only option.

Penn State… Oh, where to begin? Well, you could start by beating Ohio State for once. That would help your BCS bids a bit. Until then, stick to women’s volleyball…

That was pretty much a repeat of the 2008 game with the roles reverse. All you did was get even this year. Our 2010 season is not going to be pretty since we lost three of our starters.

I know my dad will switch off between whose shirt he wears and whose hat he wears, so that could be an option if you don’t want to go the tailor route.

My mom will wear one sock for each team, haha.

to the op: and if you buy two shirts, you may as well make the second mismatch for your mother…they will look so cute walking down the street with opposite shirts…

Where are you finding the OSU/Michigan shirts?
I have a friend that graduated from OSU and is now going to Michigan Law…looking for a good gift idea for her going away party. I really wanted an OSU/Michigan shirt stitched together.
