is it a good sign if the college contacts my GC this late in the process(am an international)
“Is it a good sign that the College contacted my guidance counselor this late in the process? (I’m an international.)”
Yes. It means your application is being seriously considered.
Just curious. Was the GC contacted through email or over the phone?
Applicants really need to use the correct spelling of a college they are applying to.
should be: [Posters] really need to use the correct spelling for a college they are applying to.
@hezekiel via email.
Posters should also make sure they do not have dangling prepositions when they take it upon themselves to be the grammar and spelling police.

Three things on that:
It’s a thread TITLE for a college the OP has APPLIED to. That’s not a trivial placement for a typo.
I think you mean dangling participle. I’m not even sure that is the case in my example, as the “participle” is acting as a noun clause. Its placement at the end of the sentence also allows for the noun, “spelling,” to be adjacent to its adjective, “correct.” Though I do realize my construction was somewhat awkward, mostly in an effort to be minimally offensive to the OP.
I don’t mind grammatical corrections if delivered properly. In fact, I appreciate them.
Original posts and titles can not be edited.
It’s covered under both “dangling participle” and “dangling preposition” if you google.
^ I think I wrote one of those pieces.
Actually, I did end with a preposition. Though many experts regard the “incorrectness” of this as a grammar myth.
@merc81 I was snarky and regret my post. Peace.
Red, I’m sure merc’s minor annoyance quickly dissipated. Seriously, how long can one be upset with a woman whose avatar is a cute Poodle wearing a funky wig?
You might find this amusing:
@Kigzcorp What did admissions say to your GC? I think what they said is more important than the fact that they did.
@redpoodles: Don’t worry about a thing. I enjoy your posts.
@CrewDad: Nice example of how style can be compromised through strict adherence to grammatical conventions.
Technical clarifications: I initially responded as if I had ended post #4 with “applying,” probably because I had considered it. I was careless not to have taken a fresh look at my own sentence. In post #7 I should have written, “part of a noun clause.”
@CrewDad: That’s a wig?!
Hope so. I’d hate to think that’s the poor pooch’s appearance as a matter of course.
^ When bad things happen to good dogs? If you are wrong, you may have to deal with the fallout.
It’s possible the Avatar is an example of doggy drag.

Poodles rock their own distinct hairstyles. As I said, be prepared to deal with the fallout. Good luck, Old Sport.
