happiest LACs (for a transfer student)

I go to wesleyan university in connecticut and I hate hate hate it!! I'm incredibly unhappy here and I know it's only the first semester but I've wanted to transfer since like the 2nd week and that desire has not gone away at all, so I figure it's time to start thinking about schools that I might want to transfer to.

I really love Oberlin but one of my closest friends goes there which is a big problem. It's still my top choice but I need other schools. I'm looking for places similar to Oberlin - big political/social/environmental activist community, strong community in general, relative freedom when it comes to curriculum, good in science with a strong performing arts program, etc. the whole SLAC shtick, you know the deal!

students' happiness level is VERY important to me. I also hate the party-centric atmosphere here at wes and I don't want any greek life!!! zero. zilch. I vastly underestimated the presence of the frats at wesleyan and I don't want that to happen again

some quick stats:
SAT 2260 (m 720 r 750 w 790)
bio SAT II: 710
us history SAT II: 740
APS:
us history 5, environmental science 4, gopo 3, ab calc 3, french 3
high school gpa 3.9
first semester college gpa probably (hopefully) B+/A-
potential environmental studies/government double major

Sounds a lot like Wesleyan (where, by the way, only 4% of men and 1% of women are members of Greek societies, according to Wesleyan’s USNWR entry under “student life”/“clubs&organizations”).

If you’re that sensitive to such limited Greek activity, or to the fact that one close friend attends Oberlin, then I’d hesitate to recommend anywhere else to you. Chances are, you’ll find something not to like at any of them.

However, schools that more or less fit your description include:
Macalester (no fraternities/sororities)
Vassar (no fraternities/sororities)
Haverford (no fraternities/sororities)
Grinnell (no fraternities/sororities … but you may not like the rural location)
Reed (no fraternities/sororities)

My D1 actively ruled out schools based on presence of greek life, and also wanted a non-restrictive curriculum.
Her list included: Oberlin, Vassar, Carleton. Macalester, Wellesley (and a couple others I forget now).
