Happy Cinco De Mayo!

A holiday that indicates opportunity for some of my favorite casual food!

Are you making or dining on any celebratory treats? :taco: :tropical_drink: :mexico:

Only 8am but there is a nicely ripe avocado in the house that MIGHT turn into some guacamole…or avocado toast with a little kick for breakfast!

Maybe a margarita is in order!

We’ll probably grill some chicken with Penney’s fajita seasoning and some sliced onion and red peppers. We eat chicken fajitas a lot once the weather is nice…and fortunately this weekend looks fantastic!

Guac and bean dip too, of course!

I have a 7 stop pub crawl and a big dinner with 20 people at a local casino today.

Very honestly, do not care about a holiday promoted largely by Corona Beer to sell product.

How many out there think Cinco De Mayo celebrates independence from Spain? Do they care as long as the beer keeps flowing???

And yes, I am a cynical and jaded person, and freely admit it.

NOW GET OFF MY LAWN!!! (lol)

Absolutely! I actually did take it upon myself to explore the history a couple of years ago.

Our local authetic Mexican restaurants (we have MANY), will be packed tonight but I’ll give them some love in the next week or so.

Went out last night with friends to the same local family owned Mexican restaurant we go to every year- usually on the 4th to avoid the crowds. So good!

Or as it’s know in the Emergency Dept. Happy Cinco de Drinko. (Because of the very high number of drunks that show up in the ER.)

Only worse holiday to work is 4th of July. D is thrilled she’s not working either of these nights this year.

Those are beautiful!

I have a friend who turned her cookie decorating hobby into a great little business. She stays booked up to the level she likes as well as teaching some classes.

Amusingly (to us), Cinco de Mayo was a bigger deal in Chicagoland than here in San Diego. Perhaps that’s due to the extensive ongoing local Mexican influence on dining and drinking. There is a family festival in Old Town San Diego and other events celebrating the culture. And yes, booze cruises.

We don’t go out specially for this, but we do celebrate Taco Tuesday regularly through the year. I myself am staying home, recovering from my surgery. No alcohol allowed. :no_entry_sign: :tropical_drink:

We ate at our local Mexican restaurant last night. Authentic and family owned.
We are camping this weekend and right now pitchers of sangria and margaritas are chilling in my RV fridge. I don’t drink, but I won’t stand in the way of anyone else’s party!

Very impressive!

What’s this “maybe?” No maybe about it.

Had a watermelon margarita at dinner! Happy to “comply”!
